Valkyrie

Our Sim

The USS Valkyrie is a Centaur Class Starship. Her mission is primarily one of exploration and discovery, but she also provides emergency response and defence to the United Federation of Planets and it's citizens.

The year is 2393, and after years of rebuilding after conflicts with powers such as The Dominion & The Borg, Starfleet is ready to push back out into the unknown, throw back the veil of mystery and make new discoveries. At the same time, there are fresh challenges facing the fleet close to home, from dangers on a planetary scale to fresh tensions with bordering empires.

Based out of Deep Space Twelve, a station on the edge of Federation space, our missions can range from exploration to search and rescue to diplomacy or even combat, so there should be something for everyone. We aim to provide an engaging sim with something for every character to do. Creativity is encouraged, if you have an idea for a mission, a story or a subplot, we'll try our best to make it work within the sim.

If you're interested in joining our sim, we'd love to have you aboard, just fill in one of our applications. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Once again, welcome aboard the USS Valkyrie!

Ladies and gents,

After a lot of thought, I have decided to place the Valkyrie sim on a semi-permanent hiatus.

As you know I've been struggling with recruitment and engagement aspects of the sim for a long time now. Simply put, I've not being enjoying it and that's not the basis for a healthy or successful sim.

I may consider bringing back the Valkyrie at some point down the line, although there would likely be some changes if and when that happens.

Many thanks,
Luke

Great news everyone!

We've been awarded the Task Force 47 silver Unit of Merit award for July. I think this reflects all the work we've done to try to get the sim back to the level we know we can achieve. Hopefully we can keep building on this and continue to improve.

Fantastic work everyone!

Ladies and Gents,

You may have noticed that the site has been down over the last few days. This was due to a security update from our hosting service that proved to be more time consuming than expected. We've also had a few issues with emails from the site not going out, but I'm hoping that's now fixed too.

We're currently working towards a relaunch of sorts for Valkyrie which we're hoping will attract some attention and reenergise the sim. Please get in touch if our have any ideas, because there will be changes incoming soon.

As part of the annual Obsidian Day celebrations in July, Obsidian Fleet are once again holding the Golden Padd competition for short stories. This year, it's no longer limited to Star Trek, entrants can be in any genre. We're lucky enough to have a group of excellent writrs eom Valkyrie, and anyone who decides to enter would have a great chance of winning.

Rezzik never stopped grinning. He had received some kind of cosmetic surgery to alter his appearance at some point after the Dominion war and it seemed that his face was stuck like that. There was no warmth behind the rictus grin though, and his yellowish eyes betrayed his true nature.…

Paranoia was like a disease. A sickness spreading from person to person, the symptoms gradually worsening, lack of trust, lack of sleep and a decline in mental faculties. Sam Ellis was aware of his infection. He was starting to question almost everything around him, to isolate himself, surrounding himself with…

After three days of repairs, the Valkyrie was finally almost ready to get back underway. The ship had taken a hell of a beating in the fight with the Komari. The old Klingon ship had gotten the drop on them and done significant damage before Valkyrie had a chance to…

Carefully, Blackwater backed the ship up just a little to make sure the creature had plenty of room should it decide it wanted to exit. She didn't need it feeling cornered. Looking up to the screen, she mused to herself how it looked like some sort of oversized jellyfish.

The Centaur class may not have been the most prestigious line of ships in Starfleet, but they were maneuverable and small enough that the Valkyrie had been able to pick it's way through the asteroid field fairly efficiently. They'd used the phasers to clear a couple of the larger rocks…
