Personal History Ira Sorensen grew up on Calder Prime, a non-Federation colony within Federation space. It was a well established planet, with a history that went back to before the Federation was formed. Calder is a capitalist planet, meaning that trade is one of the main focusses of the government and population.

Ira showed an aptitude for business from a young age, starting the Sorensen Trading Consortium when he was still in school. He began by buying and selling goods for small profits, working his way up to a small warehouse where he focussed on bulk agricultural supplies. Ibwasnt glamourous work, but he made a reasonable profit.

Sensing a shift in the market, Ira eventually sold off his warehouse and invested the capital into a freighter, which he named the Galloway. The first couple of years were rough, but a contract with the Vulcan Science Minsistry proved to be profitable enough to turn the venture into a success. Ira used some of the profits to refit and refurbish the Galloway, turning it into a real headquarters for STC.

The Galloway wasn't without it's problems though, and it was never as reliable as Ira hoped. That changed when he met a former Starfleet cadet in a bar on Risa. Russell Pound proved to be an asset to the operation, despite a questionable work ethic, and STC continued to grow.
