"Back so soon?" Old Reginald shouted from the kitchen of his little bistro as he saw his daughter enter.

"I got there as they were wrapping up." Savyla sighed as she sat down at the counter.

Reginald dried his hands and crafty slid across the counter towards Savyla. He signalled her to give him a kiss on his cheek. She obliged if ever so uninterested.
"I didn’t even get to meet the captain." She continued pouting.

"Ah cheer up girl, you will." Reginald replied.

"Not likely, he died." She replied whilst resting her chin upon the counter.

Reginald raised an eyebrow. "Really, he died. On your first mission as CMO." He uttered almost comically.

Savyla sat upright, her eyes widened. "I hadn't even thought of that. He died under my watch even though I didn't even meet him. That's going on my record. First assignment as CMO and the captain died..." She ranted as she paced across the bistro.

Reginald rolled his eyes as he noticed his comment meant as a joke clearly wasn"t interpreted as one. " Look kiddo, don't fuss about it, I'm sure the official records will explain everything." He spoke comfortingly.

"The records, the records!" she raised her voice. "Half of the people don't even read past the conclusion. They don't care about the story." she ranted on.

"Now now, you don't know that. Good officers look at the context." Reginald replied.

"Right dad, like they did with you." She grumbled.

Reginald’s demeanour completely changed after this comment. His shoulders sloughed and a troubled expression came to rest upon his face. In an instant he seemed to have aged a decade.
Savyla noticed and instantly stopped raging. She quickly took a step closer and grabbed his hand. "I didn't mean it like that dad." she spoke softly.

"Well, you did say it." Reginald replied. "And it hurts." He continued.

Savyla bit her lip a fire burning in her eyes as she held back a response. As slight smirk appeared on Reginald’s lips as he shook his head. "Such fire, take it easy hunny, you're gonna burn up."

Savyla frowned at the remark and immediately released her father's hand. "You… You..." She bit her lip once more and took a deep breath.

"I love you, hunny, but that new CO of yours is going to be one hell of a man to keep you in check." Reginald said to his steaming daughter.

"Assuming he's a man." Savyla countered.

"How about a cup of coffee?" Reginald asked.

"Spiked" Savyla nodded.

"I'll be right back, now please calm down." Reginald spoke as Savyla exhaled deeply and a soft smile appeared on her lips for the first time she entered the bistro. "I’d like to enjoy some quality time with my daughter before she ships out and starts-"

"OK daddy, I'll try." Savyla interrupted.

"Terrorising her Commanding Officer." Reginald completed his sentence. Savyla’s eyebrow twitched as Reginald raised his and scurried off into the kitchen to get the coffee.
